Program to track amount of network usage

I have have been searching previous post to see if anyone has recomended a good program to track how much I have downloaded/uploaded.

I have found a few programs, but when I look at the web sites none mention the ability to veiw traffic by week/month/day, and to see traffic from previous weeks/months/days.

The only one that looks to have this ability is ntop, which I heard take a fair bit of memory, and this sytem is low on memory

I download this program, but I don't see how to acomplish what I want. When I run the program all I get is a bunch of stuff printed to the screen. However I have no idea what it means.

I also can't find any useful docs on thier web site.

Try nta or mrtg
mrtg is a little harder to configure
with nta you can see the amount of network usage and plotts some graphs hourly/dayly/weekly/mounthly
