Program for on-screen recording with sound.

Could anyone make a video-tutorial (or step by step describtion) on how to install and set up a on-screen recording program with sond-recording abileties that can record in a format readable in most operation systems?

I would love to make some video-tutprials on how to use different applications, showing the differents between Gnome, KDE and Xfce, reviews and so on.

I belive this would be great for new Linux users and I want to contribute in some way or another :)

Try vnc2swf. It records everything you do on your screen as long as you have VNC installed. I know it can also record audio output from your machine. The output file is swf.

Could someone make a tutorial about how to make an video tutorial using Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake? I can't fond any video tutorials about this distro. A video-tutorial that shows everything from putting in the Live-CD, to installing, rebooting and logging in to your new OS, installing software, costumize desktop, installing various codecs and so on would be great to show how Linux works and how easy it can be.

Bento,

I don't think you can record booting on a live cd tutorial. Why don't you try installing VMWare? I have VMWare 5.5 and I know that it can record video on what is exactly you are doing on screen (including the booting). I am just not sure if sound is supported.

Not even if I record from another PC. For example if I am recording from another computer that is linked up to the computer I want to record, wouldn't that be possible?

I would really check it out though, could you please give me a little how to?

Bento,

try this link:

You have to make sure that the computer which you want to record video has VNC installed and configured correctly. Now all you have to do is install this to your server and access that PC thru VNC. However,I am definite that you will not be able to record the boot up. If you also want to record the bootup, I suggest you install vnc2swf and VMWare. All you have to do is to activate vnc2swf to record your own screen and navigate using the VMWare. I think this is what you want to do.
