proftpd : PORT command unsuccesful

I am trying to setup an FTP server at my home PC.

The computer is on LAN at home, and i redirect the connections at specific ports from the server (win2k) to my computer using an application.

Now, when I try to FTP my comp, it works in the LAN, but it doesnot work when I try to access it from outside. Does proftpd use ports other than 21?

It gives the following error

230 User shyam logged in.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp> ls
500 Illegal PORT command
ftp> mget VM*
Not connected.
ftp>
