proftpd and mandrake config


Ok so heres the thing ...I configed proftpd and the service whenever i restart says proftpd dead but subys locked... what causes this...also whenever i try to connect to the server it terminates the connection...I have disabled all firewalls im running mandrake 9.1 and all the drakconfig tools i find to be useless.

Ok I answerd my own question ..i guess it helps to write out your problem...but heres the answer for anyone viewing this thread. Dont run it as standalone....just change standalone to inetd in the conf file and reload your xinetd service and voila ...it will work as standalone im guessing it needa alternative forms of authentication databases
