i want to install procmail on redhat 9.0 can any one tell me about "How to install and configure it.if there is any link reguarding to this may be help ful for me.

".procmailrc" would be the name of a personal procmail recipes *file*. ".procmail" would be the name of a personal procmail *directory* which could contain recipes, logs and scripts. Both reside in the users home.

can u tell me is it is necessary to use procmail and dovecot at the same time.
if it is not necessary then which of them is more benifical in case of postfix.
What you'll want is to find out the main purpose of Postfix, Dovecot and Procmail (from their websites for instance, or a HOWTO) and then you can answer the question for yourself! You really don't need to rely on others for answering simple questions like that...
