Probs starting Apache 2.0...

I was about to ./configure, make, and make install with no problems. But when I try:

/usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start
I get this:

httpd: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

Is this something that I can fix in httpd.conf? I have two nics in the box each with static'd IP's.

thanks

there is a section asking what the server address is, have that one as where it is connecting to the internet. the domain name, call it what ever you want, if it's your name anyway.

you could put an entry in the virtual hosts area and see what that does. i would make one that is correct and one that is more of a play area for you. that way if you want to do things, like make passwds to access parts of your site you can use the play area to experiment with.

so i would leave the specific servname open and just put a couple in the virtual servers. yes that works for your main server, i'm playing on one now that is set up like that.

cheers.
