Problems with Xconfiguration file
Hi,
I needed some help on what I think is a problem with a corrupted Xconfiguration file. I left my computer while it was running a program and when I came back, it looked like the screensaver had initialized but had frozen. I cold rebooted the computer, and everything initialized ok but when the screen that I log into was supposed to come up, I get instead the image that the machine had frozen of, i.e, the image of the screensaver. Does anyone know how I can fix this and boot into my system? Thanks!

What is your graphics adapter?
I've seen "old images" as a flash-back after a
soft-boot/reset before the actual driver gets initialised.
To get rid of the image power-cycle the machine
and leave it turned off for at least 15 seconds.
Cheers,
Tink

Hey Tink,
I'm not really sure what my graphics adaptor is. The system has been power cycled several times, and has been left powered down overnight, so I can't see what the problem could be. Thanks!

Hey Tink,
Thanks for your help. After restarting the machine a couple of times, it started to work fine. I think that the video card was having problems. I've replaced it and its working ok so far.
