Unhappy Problems with Thunderbird connecting correctly to the mail server

Hello everyone,

I have a very nasty problem with my mail client (Thunderbird 3.1.7). It connects to the mail server, receives mails ... but not all of them. Is there a thing that synchronises the server with the client, like searching the difference between local inbox and the server, and after downloading the remote content that is not present locally?
I would gratefully appreciate support on this one ... it really gives me head aches. My OS is Ubuntu 10.10. I also have Thunderbird 3 under Win, it uses the same .thunderbird folder as in Ubuntu (meaning no issues on different platforms), but in Win is the same, it doesn't fetch all mail. What is really intriguing me is that had no problems or what so ever until 2 weeks ago or so.
Thank you,

PS: I also tried Outlook just for testing (even though I don't like it and Win is my "just in case" OS) and it fetched all mail correctly. Few days ago Thunderbird refused to connect to the server no mater what.

If reading http://tberg.net/MOZILLA/mail-troubleshoot.html and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_logging_for_mail/news doesn't leave you with any questions you could have a go at troubleshooting Thunderbird. Attaching the log as plain text .txt file might help. You could also check http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:I...Thunderbird%29, ask at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=39 before creating a ticket at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/.
