problems with .mov file extension
hi, i know this isnt directly a linux question but i know how good this website is ;) so i thought i would try it!
ive got a film with the file extension .mov (which i belive is quicktime's extension as it will only play in quicktime!) does anyone know of a way to convert it to avi or a way to play it on all players ? |
You can play it with mplayer, which is the swiss army knife of media players for linux.
The easiest way to install mplayer on fedora/redhat is to use yum. Update /etc/yum.conf so it has loads of decent repositories in it, then as root do "yum install mplayer" |
yum !? ive never herd of that, is it the equlivant of apt-get ?

You can play .mov with just about any player if you get the codecs from
Mplayer.hu. Get them all, win32, qt6, qtextras, and rp9codecs. Create the directory, /usr/lib/win32 And put the win32 and all qt codecs in there. Put the rp9codecs anywhere and tell your player where they are. |
