A few kinks in Linux kernel 2.6.1 - just a little help needed

I just compiled and installed the new Linux kernel 2.6.1 on Mandrake 9.2. I'm currently running it but it cannot mount the floppy or the CDROM for reasons unknown to me since I'm still pretty much a |\|006. Another problem I'm having is that the scroll wheel won't work on my Microsoft Intellimouse explorer. Everything else is working just peachy so if you people can help me fix this I'll be in bliss and therefore eternally greatfull. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives me some help with these kinks.
