problems with installing RH9 on external USB drive...

I want to install RH9 on an external USB harddrive (via USB1 port). I like to have a complete RH9 environment on my USB drive, so i can use this RH9 on any system I connect my ISB drive to.

But when i’m installing RH9, anaconda doesn’t recognize my external drive (I have a free partition of 4 GB), only my internal HD (which has a free partition of 1,4 GB). When I switch to my command line I can mount the USB drive, so the drive is recognized by the system. But not by Anaconda.!!

How can I solve this?

okay, two things here. Firstly, will your BIOS boot from your external USB drive? If not, it may be pretty tricky to actually boot the system.

As for anaconda recognizing your USB drive, I'm not entirely sure, having not had much experience with anaconda. I do know one thing about USB drives, though, and that is in slackware, USB drives are recognized by using SCSI emulation....so it is /dev/sda1.
