Ok, Im a newbie and I use Mandrake so I wouldn't be too sure but I assume that if it wont start in graphical mode then your runlevel could be too low. Try this, login as root, type kde or whatever gui your using. When your in kde or whatever you use look for a folder called etc. Inside it you should find a file called inittab.
Open up this file and look for the runlevel line. This is short line and im assuming it is currently set to 1 or 2.
You should change it to 5 then save the file. Reboot you system, then hopefully the graphical problem should be fixed.

As for your problem with sound, try this:
look for a program called kmix and open it. Click all the green buttons so the light comes on on all of them, then put all of the sliders up to the max.
Then hopefully your sound will work.

hi colly and thewizard20,
Thanks for your replies as you mentioned i canfigured the xfree86 for the intel i810 chipset but still there is no any graphical mode ,ofcourse the same error messges wich i mentioned above, also i change the run level from 3 to 4 when i restart the pc there was no grathical screen and neither command prompt.
I installed the latest intel graphic driver for linux "i380" from folder "dripkg" and the installation proccessed succesfully but i didn't find it in the xf86config drivers database to select it.
plz guide me for further solutions.
