Problems with GLX on ATI Radeon 9100 IGP
I'm trying to set up a ASUS Pundit-R with Ubuntu Linux, though I've got some problems with the graphics driver. The onboard graphics chip is a ATI Radeon 9100 IGP. When using the driver "ati", everything works fine, except, of course, hardware acceleration. When running with "fglrx" the system freezes when trying to use a OpenGL application, such as glxgears or fgl_glxgears, I cannot even connect to it via SSH. I've also tried both with Ubuntu's own XF86Config-4 with "ati" changed to "fglrx" and with a configfile generated by fglrxconfig.
Thanks in advance for any help. |
More than a year has passed, new versions of fglrx have come out, and the problem persists. I have the exact same problem; I too have an IGP 9100. I am using the unstable distribution of Debian.
When I try to run glxgears, the window manager and all open applications appear to crash, and the X server itself can't be restarted with the usual control-alt-backspace combination. The mouse continues to work though. I cannot verify the ssh or ping behavior. I have tried this with and without the InternalAGP option being set. My kernel is 2.6.10. To install the driver, I followed the Flavio Stanchina instructions found on this page: http://xoomer.virgilio.it/flavio.sta...installer.html |
I'm Spanish, so I hope you can forgive my horrible English..
As I could Read here .Still there's no 3D support for our board at all, that might explain why are we suffering of thouse hangups when trying to run a 3D aplicattion.. :( Extract from ATI Propietary Linux Release Notes: "The ATI Proprietary Linux driver is designed to support the following ATI Integrated products: RADEON™ 9200 IGP MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9100 IGP series RADEON™ 9100 IGP MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9000 IGP series Caution: This software driver provides 2D support only for the ATI RADEON™ 9100 IGP and ATI RADEON 9100 PRO IGP. " The only thing we can do is use XFree and / or Kernel DRI support. Or hope that in the following driver release our boards get support. Cheers. Oscar Vasquez |
