Problems with Gimp-Print drivers
I'm trying to print images with my Lexmark but z42 printer using the gimp print driver, but I'm having some trouble. Black text prints fine, and the color prints fine on the printer test page in the cups admin tool. However, when I try to print an image, as soon as the images starts printing, the printer freezes up and the power button starts flashing. I push the power button, then the resume button, and it spits out the paper. This happens everytime I try to print and image. Does anybody know how to help me out here?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

your signature is about how good and moral it is to kill other human beings over feelings of patriotism !
that seems quite inaproproate for a forum such as this where we help each other rather than kill each other.

Sure.
Well, This little printing problem has me pretty much stumped. I've tried a few different things, like printing out of other programs and some different configurations, but I come across the same problem. I've done color printing from mozilla, konqueror and open office and none of them worked. Does anybody have any ideas? All help is much appreciated.

Try another printer first, see if that works. Just borrow one from a friend. Lexmark very cheap, maybe nasty. My HP works fine with the new gimp 2, even the scanner. I have two, and they seem to periodically hari kiri themselves under Linux, then I have to reinstall them.

Oh yes:
Try ptal-init setup to set up your printer. It does it better for mine. (that is somewhere in /sbin or /bin.
Then you have the ptal driver.

Well, I'm not going to be able to switch out the printers because the only other printer I have on hand right now is another Lexmark, this one being a usb and likely not to work at all with Linux. I think I'm going to try and setup the printer again and see if that'll help any. Then I'll try the ptal driver, never really thought about using it so I'll give it a try and see how it works. Thanks.
