Problems with Gaim RH9/RH8/Fedora
 

Hello all,

I hope somebody can help me find a solution to this. I am tying to sign onto the aol instant messaging protocol. For some reason I am not able to sign on at all. Gaim gets stuck at "name sent" or it sometimes makes it all the way to "finalizing connection" but it just halts there. I get nothing. I have tried different distros, and I have the latest version of gaim. I am not necessarily a n00b but this might be a n00b situation.

BTW - I have also tried tik, jabber, and the aim client from aol and they all get stuck at some point. With the aim client from aol I get stuck at "veryifying user name and password".

If anyone has a solution for this please let me know, I would greatly appreciate this.

Do you run a firewall? How did you install gaim? Which distros did you use?

I have used it with a firewall and without.

I have tried mandrake 9, 9.1, 9.2, and Redhat 8, 9, and Fedora.

Also I have tried multiple versions of gaim and different versions of aim.
