Problems with changing the frame buffer setting in console.

Hello.

I'm having problems automatically setting the console resolution. I know all about the vga=<setting> in lilo.conf but this seems to be a slightly different problem. I've set the option vga=ask to find out what I'm able to set. If I press enter to print the list, it gives me up to 6 options. I then can do a scan and I get 7 more. The last of these (130x60, I think) is the one I want. I looks great when I select this. However the option wont appear unless I do a "scan" manually. I don't really want to have to do this every time. Are there any suggestions as to what to do about this?

Scratch that. I found out how to do it. All you have to do is put in the "vga=ask" option. In the resulting output (at boot time) look and the "mode" column. It will have a whole bunch of hexadecimal numbers. Pick the one which works for you and enter the mode number into lilo.conf in the form: "vga=0x<mode number in hex>".
