My Error Message is as follows:

Totem could not play 'file:///home/tantillum/(I am withholding the actual filename for a reason).avi'.
Failed to open; reason unknown

/*Also, when I try to use other movie players (I installed Real Player 10 for Linux)*/

--Component Missing--
The Following Components are required
VOB

URL:
file://media/cdrecorder/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB

/*Please help me, and also note I am new to Linux. Therefore I am accustomed to using Installer programs to install, but I am eager to learn*/

What's the file name?

PORNOGRAPHY_I_SHOULDN'T_WATCH.avi?

I'm only joking!!! hahah.

I couldn't get totem to work either.

So I downloaded mplayer.

Works sleekly - I can play songs without the actual player appearing.

So, as root:

yum install mplayer

and start pumping those music. You might want to download the graphical mplayer because when you watch movies with Mplayer, the colour might go all funny. With the graphical Mplayer, you can fix it so the colours show properly.

Good luck.

replay ...

hello ,

well , at first i didn't want to post in this thread because i don't want you to watch pornography , it just get your inteligence as a human divastated ... it would be better that you watch things that improve your intelligence ...

and now back to xine ... go to the mplayer web site and download the all* codecs package ... put the files in the package as written in the README file which also in it or search instructions in the google - xine web site ...

mmmm , if you still don't got it , if you put the mplayer codecs as mentioned both xine and totem will start play .avi files and others ...!

good luck , and it's the time to get rid of the derty you watch !!!! ( if you do )

m-s ,
