Problems on using Norton ghost to clone RedHat 7.3 (ext3)

Did anyone has successful experience on this action??

My problem is: Norton always clone my ext3 to be a ext2 filesystem.

man tune2fs

u can convert ext2 to ext3 nondestructively. if this has any negative impact on 'cloned' disks, i'm not sure.

You have to use norton ghost 7.5 or above, I have been using the corperate edition and it works great on ext3 and the restores have been perfect, I use it to back up my servers once in awhile to have a compleate backup.

I have used Norton Ghost 2003 which has stated to support ext3.

When I go to create the image, that's no problem.

But when I restore the disk from the image, it try to create ext2 for me (shown on the buttom status bar), not ext3.

Is there any option I need to set?

I don't think that norton 2003 does work on ext3, I don't think they do much testing on the linux side they just through it in, what I found was when you ghost with 2003 it shows that it is putting it into ext3 But I don't think it does it correctly, like I said above version 7.5 is the first one I have found that correctly does ext3.

You can take a look at PartImage.. I think it can do everything NG can do and more.. this is on my list of things to try in the future...
