Problems Logging Out/ Halting

System:
p3 733Mhz
512 MB ram
Mandrake 10.0
+++++++++++++

I just recently installed Mandrake 10.0 and everything has gone great until now. I wanted to try out FireFox, so I downloaded it from the web, extracted it to /usr/lib/firefox_0-9-1/firefox, and created some nice application links to ./firefox. All seemed well until I tried to reboot my computer. I just sat there with a blank screen. When I pushed the reset button, all my KDE settings were lost. I tried changing my settings back and then just ending the session--Same blank screen. Anybody know what's going on? Know how to fix it?
