ok,I followed the giFT install guide on the giFT web site:

Things went ok,I think.But I'm a newbie,so I don't really know 100%.
I didn't get any error messages,so I think it was ok.
I didn't have LibDB or LibID3

Here's what I did :
first I DL-ed everything via CVS

then
$ cd giFT
$ cvs update -Pd
Next I checked for the 3rd party software needeed.
I had: Zlib;Perl;LibVorbis but not LibDB( I had libDBi) nor LibID3 nor ImageMagick.

then I did $ ./autogen.sh
then $ make
and $ su -c 'make install'
and $ giFT-setup

I didn't understnad some of the setup parameters,but I think most of them were ok.

Some things puzzled me:
the install notes said:
However,when I type this Iget:
[Ludwig@localhost giFT]$ giFT
*** GIFT-FATAL: couldn't load protocol in file /usr/local/lib/giFT/.la: file not found
which leads me to believe that it wasn't installed correctly.

I went on to install the giFtcurs front end,but i couldn't get that to work either,probably becasue the instalation of giFT wasn't right.

Can someone help me?
