Problems Copying & Pasting In Word When Word Closes - Ubuntu

When I copy text in my word processor (Word) in ubuntu, then exit the program, I can't paste the same text when I open a new document. I can only copy and paste the same text when the word processor is open and open a new document in Word. This doens't happen in XP. How can I be able to copy and paste the same text when I close Word, then paste it in a new Word document in ubuntu?

.

Are you using MSOffice (MSWord) running under WINE?

I just did a test with OpenOffice and cut and paste does not work when closing the program. If DOES work if you keep the program open and just open a new document. My hunch is that MSWord will behave similarly.

Linux doesn't have a clipboard like Windows does by default. There's probably something for your GUI that can add the functionality.
