Problems Configuring new VMware ESX Server
Hi all...
:: Background :: I have recently installed VMware ESX onto a spare system of mine. Granted it's not the best of machines to do it on, it's for testing purposes only. When I log into the system from a web interface I am prompted with the configuration wizard, and everything seems to be hunky-dory :: The Problem :: Everything configures correctly up to the point when I go to save the startup profile (about the 3rd or 4th screen). I am prompted with a Warning message that reads "One or more warnings were generated: Failed to execute LILO." Then it decides that it wants to reboot the system and I get to start the process all over again. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance -Pete |
I had the same problem... It took awhile to figure out that ESX has a SCSI requirement and I was trying to install it on a computer with IDE hard disks. One of the posts I found when looking for a solution said that some people have gotten ESX to work with SATA drives but did not go into details.
I hope IDE/SATA is supported some day or someone writes a workaround... |
