Problems accessing several gnome setting
I use to have several problems , when i mixed up something with my users
and groups. The problems where that i could not access network-admin, or 'users and groups'. I can open them, read them but i am not able to do something. After some directions i , changed the su's password and tried to open the through 'gksu'. Nothing changed But after i changed the password, when i open the 'network-admin' there is an option 'Unlock' but wen i press it it says 'Unable to authenticate' and the still i cannot change my settings. Any ideas |

2. Can you chmod the files to say 750? 3. Can you completely uninstall including /etc/.conf files for rkhunter and chkrootkit and reinstall them? 4. Run these two programs, and read the LOGS. Cheers |

hi again
So i didnt have those programs on my computer so i installed them. First i did the rkhunter test. I dont really understand what the rootkit is so i cannot really follow the log file. And chkrootkit didnt found any infected files. |

It may be tedious but without knowing what services you have installed on your computer it is difficult to know if for example swat is a problem or not. Just google if needed. It may also be a good idea to install unhide and skdet and run rkhunter again as well as editing /etc/rkhunter.conf file to do all the tests and run it. Read /var/log/ and /var/cache logs as they often give more information than just output on screen. Basically looking for rootkits as an intruder may change file permissions, as well as other stuff.
