Problem with Xine, VLC, all media!

Im using xine and VLC to watch avi. Sometimes the avi file is colorized--the colors are all screwed up. This is really annoying. Does anyone know how to fix it. I can only fix it be restarting x server.

i've the same problem with some files, the workaround i use is to play the file in mplayer with the switch -vo x11

mplayer file.avi -vo x11

not sure if theres any similar commands for xine or vlc

Hmm...can someone tell me how to do this for xine--I also dont want to type -vo all the time?

ok update: I was able to fix this for mplayer by modifying my config file. Right now I am using mplayer as there is really no difference between it and xine. Correct me if im wrong. Anyways thanks again aidanr.
