Unhappy problem with wine


hi,
I have installed wine in redhat 9 but it cant run most of the exes and may time causes system to get hang. In the process list i see lots of process named as "wine preloader". what is the problem?

To see if your particular app is supported. Also try running the latest wine.

The wine preloader is just wine itself (note that you may well be having the infamous ntpl redhat issues, did you compile wine from source? If so, there's a special flag you have to pass, run ./configure --help and look for it, it's something like ntpl, changes how the threads work)

If all else fails, man wine, will point you to the winedebug enviroment variable, it'll give you debugging output. If you'd like to debug the app.

What programs are you trying to run?

I installed it as an rmp. Is this the reason for the prob? This happends with many applications. Take IE is one of them. Even if it is not supported, y my system hangs?

You'll need to define hang
Does your X just not work, or the whole thing? Are you running as root?
