Problem with VMWare and Fedora Core 1

When trying to install Fedora Core 1 in a new virtual machine in VMWare 4.0, I get the error: "VMWare Internal Monitor problem"

Fedora is currently not supported by VMWare. Has anyone else had a similar experience installing Fedora in VMWare?
