Problem with updating yum and installing software in Fedora 17

Hi, I am not an expert in Linux and recently migrated from windows. The problem I have faced recently is that when I want to update my fedora 17 through the command : sudo yum update, I receive the following error.

Code:
[mahdi@localhost ~]$ sudo yum update
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit

seeing as fedora 17 is past it's " End Of Life "
and that there is and never will be any updates
you will NOT find any updates for fedora 17

it is a dead version

Please install the current version
Fedora 19

Fedora is a very fast passed research and development distro

with a new and often VERY different version released every 6 months
and support for any one version for only 13 months .

you also have a python error
a likely cause is installing a different version of python than was in the old fedora 17 repo
yum MUST, 100% MUST ,have installed the SPECIFIC version of python that is in the base repo

You MUST use that version and have that version installed !!!

so to solve this

do a new clean install of fedora 19
