Problem with SSL write() on PowerPC

I recently downloaded and installed OpenSSL.
I am trying to run SSL client on a powerPC.
From the command line:
openssl s_client -connect 218.35.80.13:443 -rand /dev/urandom -state

This results in:

#
CONNECTED(00000003)
SSL_connect:before/connect initialization
SSL_connect:error in SSLv2/v3 write client hello A
write:errno=0

I am using version OpenSSL 0.9.8g.

The same command works on an i686 platform.

I am quite new to SSL so any help would be much appreciated!
