Problem with rights ?

Well.. The problem is like this. If I want to add a script or something else, it just says that I do not have the proper rights. But when I go in Konsole in root and I type chmod +x mapname then it changes proper.

But after that I have another problem. When I try to add a Text-editor file it makes it but just won't open. Anyone knows what the problem is ?

I have it with alot of files like firefox / shell scripts etc..

Ideally you need to post the distribution and version you are using.

In the directory you are working from
ls -l

will list all files with all permissions, owner and group. Your problem
may be down to a user not is not in a particular group, or may be just
that you need to set proper file permissions.

Post the name of the file you are having trouble is, e.g. if its called
"foobar" then post output of:
ls -l foobar

Additionally as normal user type

This will list your user id and groups you belong to.

I'm using Xubuntu version 7.10 with Xfce interface.

I'm having problems with all sort of programs. Most likely that has to be fixed it firefox.
