Problem with Python? Yum?

Okay, so within the past week or so yum has stopped working on my Fedora Core 3 box at work. The weird thing is that the other box with the same configuration/updates works fine.

The error I get from yum is:

'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 6, in ?
import yummain
File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 18, in ?
import os
ImportError: No module named os

no matter what options I give it. I'm not sure if it's a yum problem or a python problem, because if I just run python on that machine I get:

'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

but then I get the python prompt and it seems to work.

I'm running kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3smp on both systems.
Version 2.2.0 of yum on both
and 2.3.4-13.1 of python on both.

Any ideas?

okay... I'm an idiot...

the installation instructions for a piece of software I installed a week or so ago added
setenv PYTHONHOME /someotherdirectory
in my .tcshrc file...

removing that and yum works fine now...
