Unhappy Problem with PKG_CONFIG_PATH

Hi all

I have downloaded a source tar ball for EPlugin in Evolution (Calendar,mail client in Linux). I am trying to install that plugin with './configure' shell script. But it comes up with following message:

configure: error: Library requirements (libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.7.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 evolution-plugin-2.4 >= 2.3.1 ) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

I have checked for the PKG_CONFIG_PATH. It is set to /usr/lib/pkgconfig. Because of this problem, I am not able to proceed for make and make install. Can you please help me to solve this problem?

Thanks
Neelu

Shot in the dark here, but try

./configure --prefix=/usr

I have checked for the PKG_CONFIG_PATH.
Hm, my first question would be if I have the dependencies installed. Have you checked this part of the error message?

Hi titopoquito
Can you please specifically tell me about dependencies. This is the complete error that I am getting:

checking for libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.7.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 evolution-plugin-2.4 >= 2.3.1 ... Requested 'libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0' but version of libgnome is 2.2.0.1

configure: error: Library requirements (libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.7.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 evolution-plugin-2.4 >= 2.3.1 ) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

Is it some incompatible version problem? Please guide me.

Sorry I can't guide you through this probably. I snipped some of your post and left the it seems relevant part. The program you are trying to compile needs a fairly recent version of the libgnome library, but it seems your system has an older version installed.
How you can check this easily and install the right lignome package depends on the specific Linux distribution that you use. I suggest you look in the Newbie forum or the forum for your distribution on threads how to upgrade or install a package, in your case libgnome version 2.7.0 or higher.
