Unhappy problem with midi in wine ? scorch plugin displays, doesn't play

I'm trying to play .sib files on my linux configuration.
I'm running SuSE 9.0 on an Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop.

Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI Audio Accelerator (rev 10)

kernel 2.4.21-243-default - out of the box (SuSE YOU (online-update)-box).
wine installation: wine-20040914-1
alsa installation: 0.9.6-66 (suse package)

native audio seems to work fine, at least I can run
.mp3 and .wav (using xmms)
.avi, .mpeg and .mov, DVD's etc. (using xine)
.midi (using timidity).

I installed Warcraft III in wine, and it runs fine (using "wine Warcraft.exe -opengl"), WITH music, which suggests to me that music in wine is running (unless I'm mistaken).
~/.wine/config contains among others lines:
<include extract>
"Windows" = "win98"
;"Drivers" = "wineoss.drv" ; default for most common configurations
"Drivers" = "winealsa.drv" ; for ALSA users
"WaveMapper" = "msacm.drv"
"MidiMapper" = "midimap.drv"
</include extract>

I installed firefox 0.9.3 in wine, and put a link from ${HOME}/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts to /mnt/c/win2k/Fonts, 'cause I had a problem with illigeble fonts there.
wine + firefox seem to work.

Then I installed the scorch plugin in firefox. Opening a .sib file now seems to work, I get the visualization (score-image), and I get the play-buttons.
With the winealsa.drv (see higher) I get an indication KAMix under the scorch-button to select output-device.
BUT when i press the scorch-play button, the progress-bar (playing the score) won't start. In the console, wine outputs:
err:midi:MIDI_AlsaToWindowsDeviceType Cannot determine the type of this midi device. Assuming FM Synth

Anybody ? What's now to do for me ?
