problem with lpadmin, getting error, connection refused
I'm tring to add an interface that goes to /dev/null and uses our script to tell it how to process the file and where to send it when it's done. On a Solaris machine, it is done like this:
# lpadmin -i smartq -p hp1050sq -v /dev/null
'smartq' is the script, and hp1050sq is the new interface/device name, and it goes to /dev/null. It works fine on Solaris, and I found the same lpadmin and switches resided on RedHat 7.3, but I get an error:
# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -i smartq -p hp1050sq -v /dev/null
lpadmin: Unable to connect to server: Connection refused
Is it because of CUPS on RedHat? Do you know of another way to set it up? I already added the actual device, and it plots fine through our UI. I want to be able to lp stuff on the command line directly to our smartq script for processing and plotting.
Like I said, this works fine our Solaris & IRIX. Do you know of another way I can do it?
TIA!
