Problem with listening to songs from a website on Mozilla Firefox

Hi guys..

I have been trying quite hard lately to listen to songs from a couple of websites which provide streaming audio..and specify that a realplayer is required for playing those songs. When I open the site on Internet Explorer,I can listen to them..fine..but..I dont feel like doing things on Windoze.so..I installed the Real Player 8 on my Slackbox..and tried to play the songs from the website..but...When I open the Site on Mozilla Firefox,a box pops up and says..Real Player is not installed..is there any way to download the Real Player and install it..so that Its visible to Mozilla FIrefox..or..is there any other way to Listen to songs on the sites like www.raaga.com and www.musicindiaonline.com on my Fav. Operating System??

Some one plz help me out..

You need to put the realplayer plugin into your firefox plugins folder. The files you need to put in are:
rpnp.so and raclass.zip, you can find them in your realplayer folder and copy them over to the plugins.

Plus, you should run the reaplplayer program first before using on a website. That way you can set it up for the connection speed you want.

I tried the raaga site you mentioned to listen to something. I am sure I have my real player configured properly becuase it works on other sites for both audio and video.

The exact error is:

"It looks like you DO NOT HAVE THE LATEST Real Player installed! Please download the...... and try again.

NOTE: Please amke sure you have ActiveX controls/plugins enabled."

I'm not sure, but my guess is that this site is designed for a widnows system, not just a basic real player plugin.

Good luck anyway.. - tw

Get your plugins straight and you should have 1 out ot 2.

good luck

Hi ksd I just clicked on a song at musicindiaonline.com and realplayer came up and played it for me. I used Mozilla-firefox (the one downloaded from mozilla.org) and I have my plugins for this browser as a symbolic link to my mozilla plugins folder which has the rpnp.so and raclass.zip in it. Whenever I click on a real player file, the actual real player program opens up and plays the file, instead of being embedded in the site.

I have these mimetypes added to my mozilla browser and this may work for you if you add them to your browser's mimetypes:

Description of Type RealAudio File
Extension .ra, .ram
MIME Type audio/vnd.rn-realaudio

Description of Type RealVideo File
Extension .rv
MIME Type video/vnd.rn-realvideo

Description of Type RealMedia File
Extension .rm
MIME Type application/vnd.rn-realmedia

Description of Type RealAudio File
Extension .rpm
MIME Type audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin

Description of Type RealPlayer File
Extension .smi
MIME Type application/smi

guys..I know it sounds terrible..but..I 've been trying like hell to configure Real Player on my browser..but..it ain't works.Lemmegive you my system's configuration

OS: Slackware 9.1
Browser : Firefox,Mozilla,Konqueror (The Real Player doesn't seem to work on any on these).
Real Player Version Downloaded : 8

Now..Letme give you the details of things I have done in configuring Real Player.

1.Downloaded RealPlayer 8.
2.Installed it by doing the following commands
a.chmod u+x rp8_blablabla.bin (I actually downloaded the rpm file and done tgz2rpm on it..is it ok..or is there any specific version for Slackware??I actually think..I am downloading the wrong file..can some one provide me the link for the Realplayer file for Slackware?)
b./rp8_blabla.bin

That's it..when I did the above command..a dialog box opens..and the Installation of Real Player begins..after sometime..it says that every thing got installed (I 've installed everything in /root/usr)

I now go to the /root/usr/bin/realplayer8 and copy the rpnp.so and raclass.zip to the Netscape and mozilla plugin folders. Now when I open the browser and try to play songs from www.musicindiaonline.com , it simply shows the dialog box below..

This page contains information of type (audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin) that can only be viewed by the appropriate plugin

Now..what is this guys.I have spent days to configure the Realplayer..but the same process repeats..what to do?
