Thumbs down Problem with IRSSI in Debian 2.2r6

After I compiled, make and make install the IRSSI, I try to run it but it comes up with this message and does not run:
# irssi
Termcap not found for TERM=linux
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I guess there is some problems with this termcap thingy ( I had some problems with it trying to install the BitchX, which I couldn't). How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.
