Problem with installing Suse 9
Im trying 2 install suse 9.0 Pro on my "new" comp
i installed it earlier on a P2 400 mhz comp and everything worked just fine. i bought a new mainboard, processor and memory Mainboard: Asus A7V8X-X Processor: AMD 2200XP mhz Memory : 512 mb DDR And my problem is this : I tried 2 install Suse 9.0 Pro ( from the same cd's that i used on the P2 400 mhz ) and i get a lot of errors like : Pam-modules-9.0-5.i586 failed skipped xlockmore-5.09-38.i586 failed skipped kdenetwork3-lisa-3.1.4-27.i586 failed skipped scpm-0.9.4-42.i586 failed skipped alsa-0.9.6-66.i586 failed skipped bootsplash-theme-SuSE-3.0-109.i586 failed skipped grub-0.93-102.i586 failed skipped lvm-1.0.7-105.i586 failed skipped kbd-1.08-35.i586 failed skipped pcsc-lite-1.1.1-113.i586 failed skipped SuSEfirewall2-3.1-189.noarch failed skipped hwinfo-7.30-6.i586 failed skipped yast2-theme-SuSElinux-2.8.3-noarch failed skipped gpm-1.20.1-200.i586 failed skipped raidtools-1.00.3-114.i586 failed skipped isapnp-1.26-390.i586 failed skipped acpid-1.0.1-155.i586 failed skipped sysvinit-2.82-362.i586 failed skipped desktop-data-SuSE-8.2.99-46.noarch failed skipped scsi-1.7_2.31_1.05_0.10-41.i586 failed skipped setserial-2.17-475.i586 failed skipped util-linux-2.11z-91.i586 failed skipped aaa_base-9.0-6.i586 failed skipped java2-jre-1.4.2-35.i586 failed skipped xinetd-2.3.12-27.i586 failed skipped bootsplash-3.0.7-30.i586 failed skipped syslogd-1.4.1-418.i586 failed and it goes on and on with that kind of instalation errors Does someone got any idea what i did wrong ??? ( the whole system is the same as it was with the P2 400mhz comp, only the mainboard, processor an memory are changed ) Tobas p.s. i tried also 2 intsal mandrake 9.2 and a suse network server but they al have errors can it be my bios-settings? |
"and it goes on and on with that kind of instalation errors
Does someone got any idea what i did wrong ???" This looks like a problem with the IDE controller chip and/or the hard drive. Check the BIOS to make sure that the hard drive geometry is correct. If you are booting a CD-ROM on the same IDE controller chip then the problem is probably the hard drive or the BIOS/IDE controller/hard drive setup. If you can boot a CD-ROM then try booting knoppix and see if you can do anything with the hard drive. ___________________________________ Be prepared. But there are some programs being installed.
only these errors came up, not all the packages are skipped. it starts when the install is about 25% the the errors starts Tobas |
"But there are some programs being installed.

If so, maybe there were errors during the burning process. Also, you should try resetting the BIOS settings to the standard Default. P.S. I checked the SuSE hardware database and you motherboard is fully supported. http://cdb.suse.de/ |
