Problem with installation of RedHat 9
Hello!
i am having some problems when i try to install Red Hat 9. I have a athlon xp 2.0 with an ms-6378 board which includes a Trident video card. i am trying to do a dual boot computer on a 120 gigs hd. i installed winxp in a first partition of 30 gigs. everything ok. then i am booting up with a redhat 9 installation cd. i configure mostly everything without any problems... the real problem is that when it is installing the packages i wanted it to install, the installation exited abnormally. i tried to install once by doing a minimal installation and it worked... i reformatted again and tried the installation again. the same problem. i had the same problem with a compaq 1200 i have. but if i install suse 8.2 or later i dont get any errors. i dont want to install suse in my comp., so, what can i do? what can i check? i also tried doing that linux noprobe but the only thing i could select was my nic. i am desperate and tired of trying to do that installation again and again.............. HELP PLEASE!!!! |
Hi marinovedder!
If that happens with different computers, 99% of chances are that you have a bad CD/broken iso. Maybe you could download Redhat again and check the .md5 to make sure it's a perfect iso. Unconnected but... sometimes... I've burned a distro in a CD-r and it did not work... I then burned into a CDrw and it worked... go figure :) Good luck and welcome to LinuxQuestions.org! |
