Problem with install nVidia drivers on Mandriva 07

Hello all.
I have got problem with install nVidia drivers on Linux Mandriva 07.
I downloaded it from nvidia.com for x86 Linux, symbol of drivers is 100.14.11.
When i try type in command line for install drivers: sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run anything happens. I try also to type: sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1 but nothing happens too. Also try to use some older version of driver - same result. Package is locate on my desktop.
I searched internet, and find that in some cases it is needed to modify file X config, but in them cases drivers even try to install. In my situation nothing happens when i write commend to do it.
My graphic card is Palit 7300GT Sonic.
Any suggestions ?

Hi and welcome to LQ.

From the directory where the driver is located do
Code:
$chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run
and as root do
Code:
#./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run

Mandriva also offers nvidia-drivers prepackaged for the shipped kernel. Just open the Mandriva Control Center --> Software Management and simply search for 'nvidia'.

If you definately need - for whatever reason - the latest nvidia-drivers, you'll first have to install the matching kernel-sources. Then log off and change to a terminal via <ctrl> + <alt> + <F1>, log in as root and type 'init 3'. This is necessary, because otherwise the nvidia-driver will complain about a running x-server and abort. Then do as reddazz said. After installation is done, type 'init 5' and it'll take you automatically back to the normal GUI, where you can log in to your normal user account.
