problem with gmtp

Hello. I have a Debian desktop computer that I recently upgraded to Buster. I also have a Galaxy Nexus phone (aka maguro) running LineageOS (cm-13). I use the program gmtp to connect and transfer files between these two devices. This worked fine in Stretch (aka Debian 9) but is not working now. Instead, I get the following error:

Code:
mark@debian:~$ gmtp
Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=685c) is a Samsung Galaxy models (MTP+ADB).
error returned by libusb_claim_interface() = -6LIBMTP PANIC: Unable to initialize device
Detect: Unable to open raw device?
LIBMTP PANIC: Trying to dump the error stack of a NULL device!
LIBMTP PANIC: Trying to clear the error stack of a NULL device!
Any idea how I can fix this?

I did solve this. I searched (via duckduckgo) the internet, and some site suggested installing a bunch of packages. So, I ran the following, and then rebooted, and that allowed gmtp to work again.

Code:
root@debian:/home/mark# apt install gvfs-backends jmtpfs libmtp-common mtp-tools libmtp-dev libmtp-runtime libmtp9
Some of the above had already been installed, but a few of them had not.
