Problem with gdm and a changed home directory

I have this problem with Ubuntu - I installed 7.10 for new and lateron I modified home directory locations from /etc/passwd (because I am running few other distros as well so I want to have dedicated /home for each one of them - not following /home/<user> scheme) - I am not sure whether this caused the problems...

However, I do have some peculiar things occuring. For example, recycling bin icon opens and shows the contents of /boot - directory. When deleting the files they are correctly moved to .Trash directory under my home and also correctly emptied, only the location is wrong (and of course that the icon always shows full recycling bin)

Also there are some ready shortcuts in "Places" Menu or also on Nautilus - shortcuts to Documents Music Pictures Videos or so subdirectories under /home - in my case they do not appear.

Now there must be some sort of configuration somewhere? Is there something I can do to fix these things?

At least I found partial help for "Places" menu from .gtk-bookmarks file.
These were defenately pointing at my initial home directory from install and not to the changed one. For .Trash I have still found no resolution...
