Problem with Free Pascal

Everytime I try to compile a program with Free Pascal, I get the following error message:

Free Pascal Compiler version 2.0.2 [2005/12/07] for i386
Copyright (c) 1993-2005 by Florian Klaempfl
Target OS: Linux for i386
Compiling test.pas
Linking test
test.pas(3,1) Error: Util ld not found, switching to external linking
Error: /usr/local/bin/ppc386 returned an error exitcode (normal if you did not specify a source file to be compiled)

How can I fix it?

Are you trying to build a PPC version with an i386 compiler? That's the problem. Wrong architecture.

Post you machine specs by the way so that we can know what architecture you're using.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand what you said. Could you be more clear? What do you mean by "post your machine specs"?

My processor is intel inside celeron M. I had installed the free pascal version for intel/i386. I think the problem is that I should have installed the amd64/x86 64 version. Am I right?
If I am right, what should I do? I've ran the installation for the amd64/x86 version (without deleting the other one) and now I get the message "bash: /usr/local/bin/fpc: cannot execute binary file."

Smile Celeron and pascal

No you are really confused. Never install 64 software
unless you have installed a 64 bit version of Linux and
most celeron processors are NOT 64 bit. Any 32 bit software
should run on a 64 bit version of linux.
What is the name of your Linux distribution.
