Problem with FC 14 and nvidia drivers

Im running FC 14 (x64) and im trying to add in mythtv. Right now the video is very choppy and will freeze up to a black screen ( I can use alt tab to see other applications but cant exit out) I was thinking it was my graphics driver. I read the mythtv wiki and they recommend installing nvidia-graphics from yum. When I do this however when I reboot to apply it FC freezes when it the loading bar is full (the logo is fully showing) I can press CTRL ALT DEL and it will reboot after 20 sec but I am unable to do anything.

Im dont want to try installing it again and have to reinstall (I tried single user mode to remove it but was unable to restore the old drivers even after restoring the xorg conf) but I feel I need to if I want mythtv to run correctly.

I have the nvidia Geforce 8500 GT (01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] [10de:0421] (rev a1)
)
Im also using the repo http://atrpms.net/

I also did run ubuntu before switching over and it used the nvidia graphics driver with no problem

On a final note, I was wondering if the nvidia-graphics were different then downloading the driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-d...36-driver.html

Thanks in advance
Brian

You could try blacklisting the nouveau drivers. Add rdblacklist=nouveau to the end of the kernel parameters when you boot from the grub menu.
