Problem with dongle software
Hello
Just made a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 on my laptop TravelMate 5320.
Trying to install Nokia Internet Modem CS-17, but no can do!
Getting this: "E:The package nokiainternetmodem:i386 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it."
What does this mean?
Anybody, what should a newbie like me do?
In my other (older, compaq nx9010, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS)laptop I can find nokia-cs-17.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/, but now I don't. Is this part of the problem? Any solution?
lsusb recognizes the dongle.

Normally there isn't any need of installing software for using usb dongle on linux.
Linux has inbuilt driver for usb dongles, and usb phone modems etc.
You can plug and use internet modem straightaway.
And yes for dongle, if it is not detected as usb modem, you can install "usbmodswitch" package.
Even then if you really need to install that software, can you tell how you are trying to install it.

Hello again!
I see that jdkaye has taken a look at my earlier thread when having the same problem.
The new problem here was that I couldn't find any /etc/modprobe.d/nokia-cs-17.conf, no such ever got installed, for some reason.
And to s.verma: Yes, I have usbmodeswitch installed.
Me and some other persons have now spent hours and hours trying out different distros to see which one will really go for it.
With Lubuntu LXLE 12.04.3 we got WiFi running effortlessly, but dongle, no way.
No we have debian installed and the dongle works fine. Seems that my summer is saved after all, having to stay outside the wifi connections. And yes, that is another issue, because we still have to configure the WiFi to make it work...
But as Rudyard Kipling said, "that is another story"...
