I installed Ubuntu for the first time a week ago, and so far I've enjoyed the distro. I started out with GNOME and then moved on to KDE, but in neither of the desktops I can get Compiz to work. I tried in Ubuntu 7.10 first, and then in Ubuntu 8.04.

I use Ubuntu 8.04 now, with KDE and the only thing I had to do to install Compiz was to use System - Desktop Effects. I also installed ccsm (the options manager), but the problem is when I press the binded keys for rotating the cube, nothing happens, except switching between desktops.

If there are any commands I can use to find troubleshooting info, please tell me.

It is perfectly readable.

I think the standard setting for rotating the cube is ctrl + alt + left mouse button and dragging the mouse. But you also have to enable the plugin itself first.
