problem with applet signing

I use logmein to remotely logon to a server at uni however this uses a thrid party applet which on windows has to be permitted to run within the browser. On linux (within 32bit chroot running offical firefox binary) the same dialog box doesn't popup then I get a Access denied error. Or is this an issue with their implementation?
