Angry Problem with Apache virtual hosting

Hi all!

I am new to Linux and I just installed Red Hat 9.0 with Apache.

I created a virtual host for the domain greystonelab.ca. I created a folder called greystonelab.ca under /var/www/ .

The document root is set to /var/www/greystonelab.ca

The problem that I am having is that I get the Apache webpage and not the index.html document that I created. If I type in in the domain name, whihc is greystone.ca, with/index.html I get the page....if I do not include the index.html I get the apache test page

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Trevor

See if this helps...

In your httpd.conf (i.e. \etc\httpd\conf\httpd.conf), you have to set

DirectoryIndex .html .htm .php .shtml

Basically, any extension that you set there will appear as default index page.
