problem using F-Prot anti-virus for workstations
I use the most recent free version of F-Prot anti-virus for scanning downloaded files in both Mandrake9.2(desktop) and Suse9.0(laptop). In the past I never had a problem using the updater "check-updates.sh". Lately since F-Prot changed its updater to a perl script "check-updates.pl", I can't get it work. I think I haven't correctly linked something, but I'm kind of ignorant in this area. I have installed from tarball, and by their RPM and I get the same problems. The software installs in
/usr/local/f-prot/
and the updater installs in
/usr/local/f-prot/tools/.
I have installed the link to the virus scanner, f-prot.sh, in
/usr/bin/
the virus scanner works fine. By default, F-prot likes to put its link in
/usr/local/bin/.
but no other programs use that directory for bins, so I don't use it.
For the updater, I also have a link to check-updates.pl in
/usr/bin
The problem is when I use the updater (as root), from command line in the format;
[root@### /] check-updates.pl
the updater starts, and downloads new files, but crashes with the dialoug
