problem starting vidalia / tor on bt5

hi all,
I have recently installed the vidalia bundle and polipo on bt5
installation. I have followed the link.

I didnot get any errors during the install. And I could start both polipo and tor with the following commands :-
Quote:
service start polipo
service start tor
However, when I launch the vidalia bundle with the script provided in the directory as under :-
Quote:
sudo ./start-tor-browser
I get the error
Quote:
Launching Tor Browser Bundle for Linux in /root/Desktop/tor-browser_en-US
./start-tor-browser: line 225: ./App/vidalia: Permission denied
Vidalia exited abnormally. Exit code: 126
Can someone help me out with the error. It is something to do with root shouldnot start tor !
thanks in advance
nkd

Do not run a web browser as root
that is a very VERY BAD idea

and have you set up the tor proxy and the tor node
as in is tor even working before you add a browser to it.

hi and thanks
I have solved the problem . I had to change the script ./start-tor-browser to permit root to start the vidalia bundle.
About your advice about the security:

When we launch firefox in bt5, no su or sudo command is required, doesn't it by default start as root ?
How to change this behaviour ?
I tried creating a new user with a password and used the sudo command to start firefox. Is that all ?!
thanks in advance
bye
