Problem setting theme back to system default with gconftool-2

I have been having a problem with the gconftool-2 in changing the theme to a custom theme then back to System theme. The gconftool-2 does not refresh the theme back to System.

Code:
gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/general/theme custom
gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/general/theme System
I checked my theme folder and the System theme is called System and I checked the value of theme in the /apps/metacity/general directory and its set to System but no update.

Also I am stil able to change it through the gui and it updates fine but I need a command line fix.

???
