Problem RTF file

I have been handed a 1.3Mb rtf file on a 1.44Mb floppy to look at. It's part of an archive which we have to examine. I uploaded it to my skydrive from an internet cafe and downloaded it at home. LibreOffice gives the following error
Code:
File format error found at 5378,30481(row,column)

                     OK
It's not %@! Ok. Any ideas how to proceed? I will try in another floppy as a box becomes available, look in (spit!) windows even. Any tools for rtf files in linux?

"wine" has "Wordpad" editor capable of reading RTF. If it also cannot read this file then probably it is corrupted. As this is plain text file you can open it in plain text editor, like "Kate" and search for error in specified row and column, maybe hand edit will be easy.

eSelix, your resourcefulness is a great assistance to sanity in troublesome times.
Wordpad under wine worked a treat. Of course, a windows program expects mistakes.

Thank you kindly for the lateral thinking.
